Sustainable development requires collaborative leadership and innovation on the part of professionals working in public and private sector organizations based in local communities throughout the world. Our World Executive Master of Natural Resources (WXMNR) graduate degree program helps experienced professionals gain the expertise and credentials they need for career advancement and change. All aspects of the World Executive MNR program — including the international meetings, online and virtual coursework, individual development and self-directed study, peer networking, and career services — are designed to support institutional and policy change, as well as personal and cultural transformation.

  • Accelerated 12-month, 3-semester, 30-credit degree format
  • New students begin the program each August

Applying for the World MNR Program is done through the Virginia Tech Graduate School website.

Requirements for admission include:

  • Completed undergraduate degree (minimum GPA of 3.0)
  • Completed VT Application for Admission, including:
    • $75 non-refundable application fee
    • Current resume/CV
    • Two Letters of Recommendation
    • Copies of relevant academic transcripts
  • No GRE required; TOEFL may be required for international students per Graduate School requirements
  • Rolling admissions – Early applications are strongly recommended
  • Process takes approximately 2-3 weeks.

The cost of the World Executive MNR program includes:

  • Tuition and fees
  • All instructional materials including texts, cases, and supplies
  • Laptop computer or tablet and associated softwares
  • Catered meals and break refreshments on class days
  • Accommodations and meals during class sessions

Total program cost is $52,000 (in 2017), which includes a $2,000 non-refundable tuition deposit to confirm your place in the class.
