Matthew Gurin works with senior executives and leaders to implement strategies by helping to ensure strategic alignment of core organizational processes and systems such as organizational structure and role design, goal setting, performance management and rewards.
In his nearly three decades of consulting experience, Matt has worked across all industries and functions from R&D to sales. He currently is a senior thought leader and relationship manager in our global organizational effectiveness practice, leading domestic and international organizational and performance consulting engagements.
As part of our international network of consultants he helps client organizations ensure strategies and change programs are fully and successfully implemented. He helps organizations accelerate change, mergers and business results by clarifying strategies, developing enterprise and functional structures, performance measurement and executive reward programs, and by aligning structures, roles and leadership governance systems.
Recent engagements include organizational strategy and design work for a Japanese pharmaceutical company building a global center of excellence for clinical development in the U.S., strategy clarification and organization design for a $20B healthcare division, comprehensive organizational structure, staffing and leadership assessments for two high-profile pharmaceutical companies, and human capital due diligence of a U.S. business by a European life sciences company. In the past several years Matt has focused on the implications of business and operating model changes on team charters, roles and performance measurement systems for both commercial and R&D organizations.

Matt has consulted across all lines of Hay Group’s business, with particular expertise in organizational design and effectiveness, governance and rewards. He is an expert in linking Hay Group’s work measurement and organizational design methodologies. As an industry thought leader Matt is a regular contributor and author for articles.
Education and Affiliations
Matt has worked with Hay Group for 25 years. Prior to joining Hay, Mr. Gurin was in a consulting role with a well-known international management consultancy. In this capacity, he worked with pharmaceutical, healthcare, and public sectors clients. Matt holds a Bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College and studied organizational effectiveness in the University of Pennsylvania’s Organizational Dynamics.
