Melissa S. Peacor
Melissa Peacor has been County Executive of Prince William County, Virginia for over five years. Prince William County is a full-service local government, and the second largest County in Virginia with a population of over 427,000. In her local government career, Melissa has been responsible for spearheading efforts introducing performance measurement, strategic planning, performance and risk-based budgeting, employee pay for performance, continuous quality improvement processes, and public safety initiatives. She has achieved three coveted AAA bond ratings for her County (one of only 73 in the country) and oversees a budget of $2.7B and a capital budget of $1.3B with a staff of 5,000. She is a frequent speaker on local government issues and is on the Board of Directors for the Political Science Department at her alma mater, University of Massachusetts/Amherst, the Board for the Virginia Certified Local Government Manager Program at George Mason University, and on the Friends Board for the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Prince William County. She is also an adjunct faculty at George Mason University in the Masters in Public Administration program.
