In March, CLiGS officially became an affiliated center of Virginia Tech’s Institute for Society, Culture and Environment (ISCE).  As one of only seven Virginia Tech research institutes, ISCE promotes interdisciplinary research and scholarship in the social sciences, arts, and humanities that addresses social and individual transformation. Through its affiliate network of research centers, laboratories, and programs, ISCE fosters communication and collaboration across the university. In the case of CLiGS, our center’s focus on leadership to meet global challenges fits nicely within ISCE’s mission.  On May 4th, I will be presenting the mission and goals of the Center to the university’s President and Provost as part of their visit to ISCE.
