Bio

Courtney Kimmel, Ph.D. received her doctorate in forestry and master's degree in political science from Virginia Tech, and a Bachelor of Arts in economics and sociology from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Kimmel teaches courses in green infrastructure and sustainable development. She received the XCaliber Award at Virginia Tech for the innovative use of technology in the classroom, and has published research in journals such as Geoforum and the Journal of Higher Education. Kimmel currently serves as a Research Strategy Consultant for the Port Royal Sound Foundation.
