Marina Malamud

Professor of Practice

Dr. Malamud is a Social Science Researcher. At Virginia Tech, she advises on educational programming and partnerships for the new Center for Environmental Security, College of Natural Resources and Environment (CNRE). Outside of CNRE, she is currently studying the environmental factors of conflicts in Afghanistan and Colombia, research funded by Argentina's National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET). She also serves as the Accreditation Manager at the Inter-American Defense College, Fort McNair. She has published in environmental security, military sociology, and defense policy. Dr. Malamud completed her postdoctoral work at Georgetown University. She holds a Ph.D. in Social Science and a B.A. in Sociology from University of Buenos Aires, and a M.Sc. in National Defense from the Higher Education Army Institute of Argentina.
