Each year, courses are updated and new ones developed to address emerging topics. It is the student’s responsibility to satisfy all university requirements described in the Graduate School Policies and Procedures section of the Graduate Catalog, as well as any additional requirements of the MNR. Admissions Requirements
The application package, which is preferably completed online through the Virginia Tech Graduate School electronic site, includes
- Completed undergraduate degree
- Completed VT Application for Admission
- No GRE required
- An English language proficiency assessment for international students per Graduate School requirements
Applying for any of the online MNR program offerings (e.g., degree, graduate certificates) is done through the Virginia Tech Graduate School. Qualified students seeking to pursue simultaneous degrees should contact us for assistance.
Students will receive a new student orientation package shortly after receiving official notice of acceptance from the Graduate School. At this time, the student will also be contacted to schedule an advising appointment with Dr. Kieran Lindsey, Director of Online Programs, to be held via phone.
Application Deadlines
Students may qualify for financial aid, usually in the form of student loans. For more information on financial aid options, please contact us.
The MNR program accepts applications for Fall, Spring, and Summer terms. Deadlines are as follows, but we encourage students to apply as early as possible once they have made their decision:

Before you begin your Application for Admission please read the instructions the correspond to your program of interest.
- To apply, complete the online application form via the Graduate School website at https://applyto.graduateschool.vt.edu/apply/
- When requested by the online system, select:
- Program = Natural Resources
- Program Option = Online
- Degree Type = MNR
- Campus = Virtual
- Term = Fall 20XX, Spring 20XX, or Summer-I 20XX
- You will need to submit the application form and fee, resume, goal statement, copy of official transcripts from your degree-granting institutions, and contact information for two references (professional references are preferred).

Students who are enrolled as a degree-seeking graduate student at another university and who would like to take one or more of our online classes can apply as a Visiting Graduate Student.
